7 Days Gorilla and Wildlife Uganda Safari

Day 1 Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Gorilla Cousins guide will pick you from your agreed pick up point and you start one of the most exciting Safari in Uganda south westwards. You will have a brief stop by the crossing point of Equator. You will have lunch en route in Mbarara and then ascend Kigezi hills reaching Bwindi tourism zone early evening. You will check in at your hotel close to your gorilla trekking trail head.

Day 2. Gorilla trekking in the jungles

Wake up early morning with a hot cup of coffee and a snack. You will be at rangers’ office by 8:00 for briefing about gorilla trekking guidelines after which you will proceed to have the thick forest exclusively for you to explore and discover the hidden secrets behind gorillas survival skills. Trekking gorillas is a strenuous activity because of the terrain and thick vegetation. It calls for some degrees of physical body fitness and lots of patience. Gorilla trekking time is not specified and may take anywhere between a few minutes to more than full day (very rare occurrence for their movements are highly monitored). The rewards are plentiful for an encounter with gorilla family is one of those very rare moments that you will cherish all your lifetime.  You will then head back to your hotel to relax and freshen up. You may then opt for a rewarding guided walk through indigenous people homesteads to appreciate their conservation efforts. You will return to hotel to relax and enjoy your Uganda safari.

Day 3. Transfer to Queen Elizabeth, Tracking Tree climbing Lions

You will have breakfast at leisure in preparation for a slow descent to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your first stop will be in Ishasha southern sector for a brief game drive on the lookout for rare tree climbing lions. However, there are many other beautiful species to view grazing in the plains of Albertine rift valley most notable the topis, buffalos, elephants, Uganda kobs and lots of bird species. You will then proceed to your hotel close to the main road towards Kampala for a much needed rest.

Day 4. Game drive, Boat cruise

Wake up at first light and grab a cup of hot coffee and munch away on a snack as you get into our waiting safari van. You will head into the plains with savanna grassland to track the mammals in their natural wild form. This is a habitat for big herds of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, prides of lions and lots leopards. For enthusiastic bird lovers, you just have to keep ticking your favourite bird species sightings. You will get back to hotel for late breakfast and early lunch after which you will proceed to Mweya peninsular; a unique spot overflowing with natural beauty. You will then head into the Kazinga channel on a launch cruise and feel cool breezes brush your cheek as you gaze an amazing number of different mammal species taking an afternoon drink of water in the channel. You will then do a recoup game drive as you head back to your hotel.

Day 5. Transfer to Murchison Falls, crossing the Nile

You will take a very early breakfast and get into the waiting car. You will check out by 7.00 and start on a longer safari to Murchison Falls National Park. Part of the road network is not very smooth and may take longer hours maneuvering through. You will have lunch en route in Hoima town before descending steep escarpments onto the Albertine rift valley bed. You will then steadily make your way through big herds of long horned cows and beautifully decorated African homesteads before getting onto the jetty early evening to cross the Nile on the ferry. You will check in at your hotel and relax till lights fade.

Day 6 Morning game drive, Nile launch cruise

You will leave the comfort of your bed before sun rise and quickly take a hot cup of coffee and get into the safari car for early morning game drive. You will travel with a ranger guide to give more interpretations of wildlife scenarios, help in tracking of wildlife basing on previous sightings and their possible site of feeding. This is one of the most exciting and rewarding activities on an African wildlife viewing safari and many visitors can never have enough of it. You will get back to your hotel for a late breakfast as you await lunch.

After lunch you will go for a launch cruise on the Nile to have more of Uganda safari on water. You will view Murchison falls from its bottom from where River Nile becomes less aggressive and flows calmly till Mediterranean sea its final destination. You will then get to the hotel to relax and enjoy your last night in the wilderness.

Day 7 Rhino tracking, transfer to Kampala 

You will take an early breakfast and get on the jetty by 8:00 to cross with the ferry. You will tour the top of Murchison falls for photo opportunities and brief nature walk. You will then proceed and have lunch at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and later on track the rhinos in their natural environments. You will then drive on to Kampala arriving early evening and guide will drop you off at an agreed location to mark end of safari.
