This 3 days bwindi gorilla safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park. Bwindi has got half of the remaining endangered mountain gorilla population in the world. In Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, we got two options you either do gorilla trekking or gorilla habituation experience.

Gorilla trekking is wonderful experience that one should not miss while in Uganda safari, the trekking allows you to get close to the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in the forest. Gorilla habituation experience was foundation by the government of Uganda so as to enable tourists who want to spend more time with gorillas and gorilla habituation is only done from Bwindi impenetrable national park in Rushage sector.

Bwindi impenetrable national park does not only offer gorilla trekking but also you will encounter different activities like nature walks, Mountain Bike Rides, visiting the Batwa, hiking through the forest and Birding watching.

Day 1: transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Pick up from the hotel by gorilla cousins guide/driver after breakfast, he will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking. You will have first stopover at Uganda equator for photo shots and then proceed to Mbarara town to Igongo cultural center where you will have lunch and buy some hand crafts and see traditional drums.

After lunch proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through district of Bushenyi, pass by southern section of Queen Elizabeth national park where you might get a chance of seeing tree climbing lions and other wildlife. You will view beautiful open grassland, Ankole Long horn cattle, tea plantation, traditional homes and Rift valley escarpment. Arrival and check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: gorilla trekking at Bwindi forest and community walks

Have breakfast at 6:00am, carry your trekking equipment and proceed to briefing point for briefing on the dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking. The game ranger will allocate you trekking group and trekking starts at exactly 8:00am, group be led by well armed game ranger. You should carry packed lunch, enough drinking water and trekking rubber boot shoe.  Enter the jungle in search of endangered mountain gorillas and after allocating gorillas you will spend only one hour with gorillas, taking photos and observing gorillas in their daily life.

After return to the lodge and relax for some time then head for community walk to pygmy families who used to live in the forest. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: departure for game Kampala

After breakfast and organize for departure to Kampala with en-route lunch at Mbarara town. Proceed with the journey to Kampala after lunch. Arrive to Kampala and drop off to Entebbe international airport to catch up with flight back home. Gorilla trekking dos and don’ts

  • Anyone with any sort of communicable disease is not allowed to trek gorillas
  • Cover your mouth and nose when u cough or sneeze while with gorillas to avoid transmitting bacteria.
  • You will spend only one hour with the gorillas
  • Keep distance of 5-7 meters[21 feet] from gorillas
  • Don’t make loud noise while with gorillas
  • Don’t use flash light cameras when with gorillas, it might scare away gorillas
  • Carry packed lunch and enough drinking water
  • Don’t smoke or eat and drink around gorillas
