Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
Gorilla Cousins safari driver will pick you up from your hotel or another agreed pick up point. You will begin an approximately 5 hour exciting Uganda safari with a brief stop at Equator line crossing area at Kayabwe for photo opportunity, brief clockwise and anti clockwise experiments, cup of hot organic Arabic coffee and walk from north to south hemisphere on foot. You will check in at your hotel for lunch and later on go on an exciting boat cruise on the lake. Later on a brief late evening game drive on your way back to hotel and check out wildlife go about their evening activities. Thickets of Lake Mburo is one of the best places to explore for a safari into Uganda and home to a variety of beautiful mammals most notable leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, elands, topi, waterbucks, hippopotamus and a lone lion a very rare sighting that would make your tour one of the luckiest. There are 5 lakes in this protected area whose aquatic vegetation and generally luxuriant grasslands are ideal sighting places for hippos, shy Sitatunga ; a rare wetland antelope and a variety of birds. You will then head back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive, transfer to Kabale
Wake up at cock crow and with a hot cup of coffee and a snack get into the waiting car. You will take on a ranger guided game drive into the wilderness. Listen attentively as he interprets nature for you while combing the thickets to make as many wildlife sightings as possible. A site not to miss is the well known salt lick area where at an opportune time you may sight more than 4 different mammal species taking in some rare body nutrients by licking soil. You will get back to your hotel for a late breakfast and check out of hotel and bid farewell to wildlife as you head to Kabale. You will have an African buffet lunch in Mbarara town and then travel the smooth Ankole grassland plains dotted with scattered acacia tree species and beautiful long horned Ankole cattle grazing majestically. You will then ascend the chilling Kigezi hills; a conducive habitat for Mountain gorillas, arriving at your hotel early evening to freshen up and enjoy cool breezes.
Day 3: Boat ride; transfer to Bwindi forest.
You will wake up with the rising sun. Have breakfast in the lawns and get more introductions to your mountain gorilla safari with a brief exciting boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi. Enjoy the serenity of the lake with cool breezes soothing your skin. Be alert for several attractive bird species on the lake and pay extra attention to guide’s moving stories. You will get to the hotel and check out by 11.00 for a journey with surprise after each adventure surprise to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will meander sharp corners of the chilling Kigezi hills arriving at your hotel early evening to freshen up, relax your mind and gaze at scaring forested valleys and rugged hills. You can then sleep soundly to stillness and quietness of the night with loud howls sneaking in from the background in the wilderness.
Day 4 in the impenetrable jungles trekking Mountain Gorilla
Be up with the early bird, take a hot cup of coffee with a snack and be at tourism office by 8:00 am for briefing by Ranger guides about general trekking experiences, getting porters to carry your extra luggage and start off your real exciting Mountain gorilla trekking safari. Ascend steep, rugged, mist covered, thick forested hills and get in the mix with thousands of other primates, birds, mammals, insects and different wildlife species sharing habitat with gorillas and walk in their foot prints. The exciting feeling of challenging the impenetrable forests, meeting up with the gorillas and everything about the jungles is so captivating and your brief duration of life in the jungles will stretch your imagination. You will spend just one hour with gorillas within which you will have grasped almost everything about gorilla safari. Get back to your hotel for a late lunch, relaxation and stretching your tired body. You may take a brief walk through the communities sharing habitat with the gorillas, listen to their songs, dance to their music and get first hand life experiences and stories of communities living with the gorillas. You will get back to hotel for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 5:Depart the impenetrable forests, enter savanna grassland
Bid farewell to the thick jungles and take another dramatic tour of Uganda descending the steep escarpments onto the bed of Albertine rift valley and explore the savanna grasslands. You are now in Queen Elizabeth National Park; home to 4 of the giant Big 5 mammals of Africa; Lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant besides a host of other mammals and lots of beautiful birds and other wildlife species. You will have your lunch at a camp in the wilderness and do an evening game drive. Marvel at the scenery and beauty of the landscape and landforms as you head to Mweya peninsular arriving in time to watch a stunning sunset; one you may never encounter anywhere else with giant elephants and other mammals in the back ground. Check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Relax till lights fade.
Day 6: Early morning Game drive, afternoon launch cruise
Wake up with the first light of the morning. Take a hot cup of coffee with a light accompaniment and set off to optimize opportunities of seeing as many wild mammals as possible and have the best of Uganda wilderness safari. Watch the predators on active hunt of prey before the heat of the day and the prey are very much aware of this and extra alert of deadly surprise attack. Other mammals are lazily grazing on fresh savanna grassland softened by the morning dew, and lots of bird species painting the skies with eye catching colors while others are perched atop beautifully scattered acacia trees. You will get back to hotel to freshen up, relax and enjoy your lunch. You will get on the afternoon launch cruise and get more up close to mammals as they cool off the heat of the day on the shores of Kazinga Channel. Maximize your opportunities of viewing more water bird species at close range. You will then head back to the hotel to another stunning sun set and cool off the heat of the day and shake off fatigue by the swimming pool. Relax and enjoy your Uganda safari till lights fade.
Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park, Chimpanzee tracking
You will enjoy your morning sleep and have a late breakfast before embarking on transfer to Kibale National Park. You will stop briefly by the Equator line crossing area for photo opportunities and walk again from south to northern hemisphere. You will then travel the bed of rift valley with views of Rwenzori Mountains on the sides. You will reach your hotel close to Kibale Forest National Park in time for lunch, freshen up and straighten your bodies. You will then proceed to the park for a walk with big surprise after each surprise in the equatorial rain forest with ranger guides on the lookout for chimpanzees. Kibale forest is very rich in biodiversity and home to more than a dozen primate species besides forest elephants, forest buffalos, bush pigs, other mammal species, a variety of forest birds and lots of insects; most notable butterflies. Time taken on chimpanzee tracking safaris cannot be ascertained and sighting them may take anywhere between a few minutes to more than half day walk or not sighting them altogether (a very rare occurrence). You will then get back to hotel to relax, shake off fatigue, relax and meditate on the positives of choosing safari to Uganda as you await dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
You will take an early breakfast at leisure before starting on a slow travel to Murchison Falls National Park. The road is gravel and not necessarily very smooth needing extra attention and keenness to reach very safely. All along the journey there are surprises after every surprise to keep your eyes very busy all through with big herds of long horned cows, beautiful African homesteads and crop plantations standing out. You will have lunch en route in Hoima shortly before descending the steep escarpments to get on the floor of the Albertine rift valley. You will reach the jetty early evening before crossing on the ferry to Para Safari Lodge for overnight stay.
Day 9: Morning game Drive, Afternoon boat cruise
You will wake up at dawn and take a cup of coffee with a snack. Then proceed on a guided game drive to the wilderness on the lookout for mammals, birds, insects and other species. Murchison falls has an amazing biodiversity including open savannah grassland, grassland woodland, aquatic vegetation all inhabited by several mammal, bird and insect life. Albert Nile and Lake Albert are teeming with fish, water mammals and are a resting place where all moving wildlife in the park cool off the heat from the scotching sun. Day 10: Transfer to Kampala; Rhino tracking
You will take an early breakfast before getting on the jetty for 8.00 ferry crossing. You may make a detour to the top of the falls for more viewing and photo opportunities and check out of park shortly. You will make a detour to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for lunch and a hot coffee and a snack before proceeding on a walk excursion to track the giant rhinos. Meeting up with the rhinos in their wild natural form is a perfect introduction of more surprises to you will encounter on daily basis on this exciting Uganda wildlife safari. Please be informed that big herds of rhinos used to roam savanna plains of northern Uganda but were hunted to extinction during the past insurgent times. The sanctuary is a breeding area for future re introduction into the national parks.
